One of my steadfast beliefs in life is that we make our own luck. Hard work, practicing The Golden Rule, and always looking for silver linings seems to bring it upon us…and often when we least expect it.
When I look for a new book and opt against the library, I have a typical route I take in my local bookstore, hunting for a handful of my favorite writers to see if they’ve released anything new, or at least new to me.
Imagine my incredulity when not only did I find a new hardback of one of my favorite writers, Joe Hill, but it was also a signed copy! (I’m a collector of few things, but autographed books are one of them). Strange Weather is a collection of four of Hill’s latest short stories and, in typical Joe Hill fashion, he doesn’t disappoint. The depth and breadth of his wild and twisted imagination is astounding and intimidating, unparalleled and frightening, but above all else, engrossing.
I dare you to be able to put it down.
